Ms. Maureen Johns,
​Director of Education
 

​Maureen L. Johns B.Ed., M.Ed.
 
Maureen is the 4th child born to (late) Tommy and Josie Johns. She is a proud citizen of the Pasqua First Nation and joined the Education team in August, 2019. She has provided education leadership for over three decades. She has developed numerous provincial curricula including Native Studies 10-12, Grade 9 Social Studies textbook, policy documents, teacher guides, oral history collections and curriculum support materials. In 2012, Maureen was awarded the “Indigenous Educator of the Year” by the Canadian Teachers’ Federation.
 
Maureen holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She has worked with CBC Radio, provincial school divisions, Ministry of Education, the Federation of Sovereign Indian Nations, the File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council and now serves as the first Director of Education at Pasqua First Nation. She is grateful for the generosity of elders, knowledge keepers and leaders who have guided her journey. Maureen believes in the unlimited potential of all learners and has dedicated her life to lifelong learning
